we started this website to tell and share stories about things that we think are cool. we are starting with something that fits perfectly: the Sinn 103.

before we dive in, let‘s get one thing straight from the beginning. i know very little about how a watch works and i will not pretend to so for this article (but i am eager to learn). instead, i will tell you more about what draws me to a watch brand from frankfurt and its line of tool watches.

the Sinn 103 is a rock solid mechanical watch with an automatic movement, good water resistance and an easy to read dial with beautiful hands, fonts and numerals. it also comes from an established brand at a (somewhat) reasonable price point. so far, so good. but that is not why i think this watch is cool.

watches should be about more than telling time. beyond the specifications and looks of a watch, i want to discover what is easily overlooked and tell stories about things that don’t speak for themselves. this is where the nature of the Sinn 103 comes into play. while they do gain in popularity, Sinn watches today are still not what you would call common. however, they do have all the qualities required to win people over once they take a closer look.

it is this “look closer“ aspect and the conversations that originate from it that i am searching for above all and that still bring a smile to my face every time i look at this Sinn 103.
